Jerry Seinfeld turned 65 so he got his very own Twitter hashtag game the other day.

He's had a few honors and successes in life, but this is the cherry on the cake.

Fans of his sitcom offered dozens and dozens of posts where a song with NEW in the title was changed to NEWMAN, or Merry or Cherry became JERRY. A dozen people posted "Come On Elaine" (a clever switch on "Come On Eileen"). A few added a gif from the show where she's got vanilla ice cream in her mouth or is doing a spit take.

A few went for more obscure gags that would separate the casual viewer of the show from the FAN.

I used to think that these hashtag games were making it more difficult for gag writers to earn a living.

For example, the British radio show "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue," which only broadcasts a dozen episodes A YEAR, always has hashtag-type features like "Songs that would interest bakers" or "Movies that would be different if one letter was missing."

These shows will survive, because you're listening to something EDITED. You don't have to suffer through a dozen clinkers and repeats.
