I'm talking about THIS tired, worn, moronic phrase used in a tired, worn, moronic way.
People are witless. The proof, in one word: MEMES.
People are lazy. They don't want to think. They'd rather send you a MEME than an email, and they'd rather use the CLICHE OF THE DAY than take the trouble to flow some blood to the brain and THINK.
Oh, oh, Trump or Schumer or Uncle Joe threw somebody "under the bus."
Yeah? When was that? Where's the blood?
Why, in fact, throw somebody under a fucking bus? The bus is coming along, and the driver is honking his horn? He's shouting, "Hey, you two, one of you had better get thrown under my bus!!" OK. Schumer throws Hillary under the bus!
Er, because the bus driver told him to. Somebody told him to.
It would be nice if this expression even made sense, but it doesn't. What's wrong with "SACRIFICE?" It's a good old fashioned word. It's been in the dictionary a LONG time. Why not say, "Schumer SACRIFICED Clinton?" And then explain, "Er, uh, he said or did something wrong, but is blaming it on Hillary."
Or better yet, get off this kind of political gossip game and personality disorder, and write about what really matters? Write about why Schumer didn't pass the SOPA law, for example. Let Hillary take care of herself. You'll notice, she doesn't have two broken legs or a fractured larynx. She was NEVER actually THROWN UNDER THE BUS.
Considering the state of New York City transit, she'd have to wait till she's 90 to get anywhere near one.
But this is a trope, you know.
You didn't? It is. Honest. It's a trope. You've heard this word on NPR lately. Professors use it. Dull writers for The New York Times can't STOP using it. The reason? It's a trope, that's way. The trope is that you use the word trope.
If you REALLY want to know why it's a trope, it's simple enough; it's part of the zeitgeist.
Now you know. Now you can shut the fuck up. SHUT THE FUCK UP has stood the test of time. EVERYONE loves it. SHUT THE FUCK UP!
