The "SGT. PEPPER" DEATH POSTER for 2016 - American Version

One of the traditions in England, is for some guy to put together his Sgt. Pepper cover…loaded up with dead people. Nice concept, but most of the people he cared about are unknown in America. So…

…here’s a Yank revision. Not every Brit unknown here could’ve or should’ve been erased, so sharp eyed Anglophiles will recognize Ronnie Corbett, Victoria Wood next to him, Andrew “Manuel” Sachs next to her, and magician Paul Daniels up top next to the last of the Weavers folk group Fred Hellerman.

Informally from the top right, you’ll see John Glenn (not MY idea to squish him small, but at least he’s near the sky), Harper Lee, Pierre Boulez, Ron Glass, Florence Henderson, Alan Rickman, Alan Young, Steven Hill, Fred Hellerman, pitcher Milt Pappas, Elie Weisel, Robert Vaughn, Merle Haggard, boxer Alex Stewart, golfer Arnold Palmer, Patty Duke, Bob Elliott (of Bob & Ray), and transgender actress Alexis Arquette.

Continuing from the bottom and toward the left, Morley Safer of “60 Minutes,” at his desk, the TV tennis commentator Bud Collins (always wearing garish jacket or pants), Muhammad Ali (not my idea to put him off to the side), Zsa Zsa Gabor, Chynna (Joanie Laurer) the tragic ex-star of pro wrestling, Gene Wilder, Edward Albee, Prince, David Bowie, Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher, Alan Thicke and Florence Henderson.

Up through the middle and moving left, there’s Leonard Cohen, William Christopher, Abe Vigoda, Janet Reno, George Kennedy, Hugh O’Brian, Bert Kwouk, Joe Garagiola, William Schallert, various rock musicians including Glenn Frey, Pete Fountain, Leon Russell, Garry Shandling, and both Lois Lane and JImmy Olsen: Jack Larson and Noel Neill.
