How about a WOMAN arrested for public lewdness for a change?
How about a female PORTNOY who not only couldn't stop masturbating in public, but KEPT ON DOING IT even with handcuffs on!
HOW...FUNNY...WAS IT?
The girl looked like Andy Samberg in drag.
"DOVIE" looks like some guy stoned out of his mind at a rock concert.
But this is a woman arrested for public lewdness. Nothing about what drugs she may have been on.
Some of the details:
The story went from Texas to AROUND THE WORLD. It was picked up by the London Daily Fail, complete with photos of the scene of the crime (outdoor seating at a not-too-shabby-looking cafe).
Suddenly, as they say, all the laughter died in sorrow. Didn't it?
You have to feel a bit sorry for some girl who is now the subject of worldwide ridicule. After all, this was ONE incident.
Wasn't it?
As it turns out, she has a long rap sheet of drug-related and other minor offenses.
One of the gleeful websites that recounted her story also delighted in mentioning that if you're going to be an idiot, remember that you have a very distinctive name and it'll be easy to track all of your idiotic behavior.
The picture of DOVIE looking stupid and wearing scarecrow-scar makeup on her lips and a spider web, and looking like typical hopeless white trash?
THAT picture is on her FACEBOOK page.
Now the COMEDY turns to TRAGEDY.
You may well ask, "Well, doesn't she have a mother?"
Er, yes. A mother who has her OWN Facebook page, where she published THAT PHOTO and declared "MY LOVELY DAUGHTER."
WHAT? The one in the make-up that would make Johnny Depp puke?
WHAT? You post THAT picture and then below it, another dubious picture of your LOVELY daughter?
What kind of mother ARE you?
Nothing too lovely about that hapless, brainless grimace is there?
These pictures would seem to be the warning signs that this young lady, lovely DOVIE, needs to be supervised.
Another warning sign would be the number of arrests that the mother had to have known about. The warning signs about her LOVELY daughter were there for a long time.
FIVE YEARS BEFORE HER LATEST ARREST...
SIX SOLID YEARS BEFORE THIS LATEST ARREST.
A teenager giving the finger. On a public Facebook page. On SOCIAL MEDIA.
Mama, that's not a sign that you need to look after your wild 'un?
Texas white trash y'all.
Now, the term "Y'ALL" was once out of favor. For blacks, it denoted ignorant dialect. For whites, it denoted ignorant dialect.
If you have any sophistication, you laugh and leave it to re-runs of "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "Hee Haw." But, y'all, in our dumbed down "culture," talking stupid is kewl. So is deliberately bad spelling and phonetic atrocities. R.U. 4 real?
"Y'ALL" should stop bein' trolls about this unfortunate gal, and stop leavin' them nasty remarks on mama's own FACEBOOK page:
When somebody has gotten national attention, in a negative way, and FACEBOOK has added to the problem by being the place where the media cops photos to use in their news stories, what do you do?
YOU SHUT DOWN YOUR FACEBOOK PAGE.
DOVIE hasn't done it.
MAMA hasn't done it.
On both pages, several years have gone by with nary a literate sentence. Mostly there's only been the posting of embarrassingly awful selfies, which tell the world nothing positive.
SOCIAL MEDIA isn't all that positive, is it? It's been responsible for misery, trauma and death. More than the House of the Rising Sun, it's been the ruin of many a poor boy, poor girl, and idiots of all ages and races.
"She met him on social media a week before she died..." "...the warnings signs were right there in his posted photos on Facebook..." etc. etc.
Social media could be a help in this world, IF it was managed with any morality and sense.
The cold BILLIONAIRES behind FACEBOOK and TWITTER and INSTAGRAM and the rest should have "report page" features and other ways of keeping an eye on troublesome situations. At best, they'll have an automated set of prompts and hoops that lead around in circles.
The shrug is "we're just a venue" so why have a conscience, and why pay attention to cries for help? These corporate hot-shots in their remote compounds in obscure locations don't get involved because they're counting their money, using their whores, and seeing what combinations of alcohol, heroin and fentanyl they can manage.
DOVIE and her MAMA...will they go quietly into obscurity like Casey Anthony and any number of loonies who had YouTube channels and engaged in bad behavior, and thousands upon thousands of maniacs on sex-swap sites and Pinterest and photo-sharing forums? Or will they take their notoriety to the TOP, the way Kim Kardashian and HER mama did with that "leaked" porn video?
DOVIE and her MAMA...gettin' an all-expenses paid trip to be on Dr. Phil's show? If it happens, YEE HA!
